Baby thrush after antibiotics help please

I am bf and just finished 10 days of strong antibiotics because of mastitis.

My 3 month old has a bad nappy infection, which i think is thrush (mostly on the vulva and the folds on the sides are red), this has happened last time I had antibiotics and it ended up being awful for two weeks all over with bleeding.

I am treating it with 2% canesten for thrush, but giving a small amount after each nappy change, even though it says only twice/three times a day. It isn’t working great, and maybe i am overdoing it? So confused.

Her back passage is getting red and redder and I think it might be bacterial because of poo.

She is so miserable, and twitchy and wont sleep.

can anyone recommend anything…?

is the thrush cream prescribed by doctor? I would try gentle cleaning with warm water at each nappy change, dry and sudo cream, dont use any fragranced baby wipes, avoid getting anything other than water inside babys bits, just put the cream on the outside xx

Get to the GP. Sounds like you're doing all the right things but they know best don't they? Sooner it's sorted the better for both of you xx

Thank you for responding Avie29, and NoEscapingMe.

I was prescribed cream by a pharmacist for thrush, and it is helping a little this morning on the skin folds at the sides, but the rest still looks crazy red. Her bottom is getting worst.

I have kept off her nappies this morning - wont tell a lie, bit of a nightmare! So much wee and five towels to wash. Thankfully not a large poo yet. I gently clean with warm water at each change, and she cried herself to sleep 10 minutes ago while I cleaned the area and put cream on. She also has been using her feet to try and scratch the whole of her legs, she is so uncomfortable.

I called 111 (my usual response to everything!). They are probably sick of me by now! They got me a GP appointment as they are always full. Fingers crossed they have a better solution because she is unsettled and I don’t want it to get any worse around her bottom.

I know it is only nappy rash, but I have been suffering from postnatal anxiety and finding it hard to sleep. Everything feels like the end of the world, even though it isn’t.
