Wakening at night - feed or not?

My LB (6 months) is wakening usually around 1/2, he used to sleep through till about 5. He’s rolling over (can only roll back to front atm) I just leave him to it and turn him back over once he starts to grunt or sounds like he’s getting annoyed/uncomfortable... my question is he’s not crying for milk but will stay awake for ages, just rolling back onto stomach over and over being noisy 😂 if I do feed him he goes back to sleep instantly and that’s him settled again. What should I do? Should I just leave him if not crying/moaning? Or should I re-settle with milk if he’s been awake for a while? Obviously, I’m very happy to feed him just not sure what’s best to do? Don’t want to create a habit of him wakening at this time when he used to pretty much sleep through. He does always finishes the bottle if I feed at 1/2

My six month old is going through a growth spurt & developmental leaps. Her sleep is a bit more disturbed at the moment. I offer milk to help settle her and she takes it. I'm not worried about setting a precedent at this stage, she needs it. I think it's quite normal at that age for them to take a few steps back with sleep. Have you started weaning? My DD is farting soooo much at night. Could be a bit gassy maybe? I'm sure others will have advice from a place of 'been there, done that, got the t-shirt' but just wanted to say we are going through a similar thing now.

I offer mine a small bottle at around 11/12 (before i go to bed) and dream feed him. That normally will get him through the night otherwise he will wake up around 3

I stopped the nighttime bottle at 7 months once he was eating at least two solid meals a day. Gradually reduced by half an oz every few days. By the time I'd reduced to about 4oz he was only drinking one or two oz so just stopped. Was easier than I thought it was going to be. He started sleeping through (on and off) from 7.5 months but he'd always woken at least twice a night before removing the bottle.

Does it impact your sleep? I’d always do whatever gets you the most sleep. 6 month olds still need to be eating during the night so if it gets him and you back to sleep, I’d feed him.

We did the dreamfeed with both of ours too and it worked like a charm. Definitely worth a try OP! But if he’s still waking and/or the dreamfeed isn’t for you then I’d do whatever gets everyone the most sleep. If he’s still having a night feed at 9 months + when established on 3 proper meals a day then I’d think about other settling methods to try to break the habit but for now, if it works, then feed him.

Thanks all for your replies and advice

They really are learning alot at this age no wonder their sleep goes a little hay wire! we have started weaning, currently having porridge in morning then veg or something in the afternoon. He is keeping me awake so I think I will continue to feed him if he doesn’t put himself back to sleep after a little while, unless/until he stops drinking it 😊 my daughter (now 2) was always up through the night so I never questioned giving her milk it’s just the fact he has started wakening all of a sudden, but maybe it’s a growth spurt so we will go with it, like I say happy to feed. Might try out a dream feed tonight to see if that makes any differnce - thanks again!! 😀
