Hi everyone, is there anyone who studies arabic at present. I am interested to learn it;always wanted to learn another language that can be useful for job prospects. What is the best way to start?

I think you can learn arabic at college. I have been interested in learning it myself as my dh speaks arabic. It would be lovely to be able to communicate with him in his first language. I think there are lots of jobs that would like you to have another language. I have to say from hearing my dh speak it seems that the sounds are difficult for a non native speaker to produce, but I am sure where there is a will, there is a way! Good luck!

I studied Arabic at University, and I believe there are places where you can take evening classes in Arabic. If you are in London I I think Westminster University in Euston have evening classes, or perhaps apply for a degree either there or at SOAS.

Bear in mind that Arabic speakers use different dialects, so the spoken Arabic in say Tunisia will be different to that spoken in Saudi Arabia with some common threads. The coloquial arabic taught at colleges is usually understood in most arabic countries though even if its not spoken in everyday terms!

Leeds Uni does arabic evening classes - as well as normal first degree.
