My son has had what I think is a virus for almost two weeks he keeps having a fluctuating temperature and a cough I have been to the doctors twice and they refuse to give anti biotic is it normal for a child to have a temperature for two weeks it isn't to high it goes to 38 and he responds well to anti biotic and is eating and drinking fine I'm just worried as to why it's taking so long to clear up
Can anyone reassure me I have health anxiety and I'm a nervous wreck that it's something more sinister my minds just going to the worst place

Did the GP check his ears and throat?

If he's eating and drinking I'd be tempted to take him back again next week if he's not improving at all but if he's gradually getting better I'd just assume he'll continue to do so.

The bigger problem seems to be your health anxiety, what help are you receiving for that @ella1998xx? Flowers

When my dd had bacterial tonsillitis the doctor at the hospital was only concerned about the temp that didn't respond to medicine and also a temp that went away for a few days and then came back
