hi never posted anything on here before don’t know all the abbreviations or anything or even how to do it had my baby 21/2 weeks agai and I just feel so overwhelmed and I’m doing everything wrong she seems to sleep all day and I don’t know how to wake her like how do you make a newborn stay awake and then at night she’s like a completely different baby she moves constantly her arms and she makes so much noise and fusses loads and then between 2-5 she doesn’t really sleep and I don’t know how correct it any tips, I’ve done white noise for a Ewan she doesn’t seem like that I’m worried she might be waking up a bit chilly so going wrap her up a bit more, also I’m using a prep machine and I was giving her the 4oz amount but she was nearly finishing it so I’ve gone for 5oz she doesn’t eat it all but reading loads of posts she shouldn’t even be in 4oz yet so should I be worried

Ok, breathe. You're a new mum and your baby is only 2 1/2weeks old. Baby is supposed to sleep lots, so sleeping during the day is absolutely fine. At night, baby's arms are waving because of the startle reflex, totally normal. When baby is waking up then feed them; 4oz is probably too much at this point, try feeding and winding every oz or so. Also, try swaddling if baby's waking up through flailing arms etc. Please try not to worry, you're doing a great job. The newborn stage is brutal; be kind to yourself and talk to your HV if you're in need of face-to-face advice; there are no silly questions!

You're not doing anything wrong. Having a baby is really hard and we're all overwhelmed and winging it. It takes weeks and weeks before they figure out night from day. It's exhausting but it's totally normal. As for the feeds, she'll take what she needs and will leave the rest. It sounds like she's thriving.

The only thing you are doing wrong is beating yourself up. It's such early days!
