Reception kids pretend strangling one another!

My eldest started reception a few weeks ago, and today I had my first freak out.

He asked if he could show me what his friend did to him. He then put both hands around my neck and pretended to strangle me.

I explained that it isn’t a game and can be very dangerous, and if anyone does that again he should tell them not to. He said it was funny and they were laughing together!

Am I overreacting? Is this the norm? 😧He did confirm for me it was one of the reception kids, so same age.

I think this is the kind of daft thing a small child might do, not realising how dangerous it is.

I would talk to the teacher and ask if she could have a word with the children to explain how dangerous it is and how they mustn't do it, even if just pretending.

I tell your son that he mustn't do it and if anyone does it to him he should say loudly " No, stop! That is dangerous"

Other than that, I wouldn't worry too much. No need to freak out.
