Long haul flight with 18 month old

DH and I have a 8 hour flight with our active 18 month old, I’m also pregnant. Is it worth paying a few hundred for an extra seat for our toddler?

We didn't pay for a seat when we flew with ours at that age. Could have been more comfortable if we had but I guess we saw it as a bonus freebie! DCs generally preferred to sit on one of our laps even if a seat was available, especially as I was still breastfeeding.
