Baby rolling and frustrated

My DS who is just 5 months has started rolling but he can only go back to front. When he’s over he keeps trying to crawl but he’s not strong enough. He just ends up screaming after a few minutes in frustration. As soon as I put him on his back he rolls over. Am I missing something? What do you do at this stage? He’s literally crying all day!

They just do that for a while. They want to be able to move and can't. Get down with him on the play mat and have interesting things around him to grab. Not necessarily toys, treasure basket type things and household objects. Spend a bit of time on his tummy, let him roll about, spend a bit of time with him on your lap reaching into the basket for things. Wooden and metal things, play silks, things that are easy to grasp, different textures. Raid your house. Crinkly foil blankets. (Emergency blankets) are amazing at this age. They love it.

They usually get happier once they figure out how to crawl or shuffle about a bit.
