DS is 2.1 and has no idea about potty use and refuses to sit on one except for play with nappy on.
He does however appear to have some bladder control and regular poos.
Poo every morning after breakfast(typicalman)
Nappy stays dry for up to 3 hours during the day, then a massive wee
Dry 95% of time in the morning.

I really don't want to push training, not my way, but should I be encouraging him.

those are pretty much exactly the signs that my mum said my brother and I showed at around 2 - apparently we were both very easy to train as 'ready' for it. My DS is the same age as yours and shows none of those signs - won't sit on the potty at all, wees all the time, poos very irregularly. I'd say you are in the perfect place to give things a try!

Thanks DD was a lot easier as she told me she wanted to be without nappies and was dry ina week.
DS has limited speech now, so my main concern is that I wouldn't understand his requests to use the potty, and we would both end up getting frustrated
