Makaton or BSL for my baby?

I am interested in learning one of these sign languages to teach my baby as a way of pre-verbal communication.

On one hand it would be a lovely experience to be able to understand the people signing using BSL on the television. On the other hand Makaton is used widely in a lot of preschools, so it would be good for continuity.

Which would you recommend?

I don’t think it matters - it is just a bit of fun. You will be teaching them “milk” and “sleep” not discussing the pros and cons of re-joining the EU.

I did a little bit with one of mine (I’d go to a baby class in lion timing if it was within walking distance of my house, the other mums were nice and there were decent biscuits!) and it was quite interesting but very quickly became defunct as they started to talk and their vocabulary seemed to increase at a ridiculous rate.
