Hi, please can s tell me whether they think this looks infected? My baby is 4 weeks old and I’m not sure if this is normal. A small amount of yellow discharge seems to be on her vest.
Her stomach is red as we’ve just done a contact nap - new mum freaking out!

I had this with dd2. She was 7 last week so a few years back now. Try cleaning it with some cool boiled water. If worried quick call to 111 for advice.

It looks fine, some discharge is normal in the healing process & the skin looks pink & healthy. As above, cooled boiled water to clean & see gp Monday if you’re still worried.

My baby did have an infected cord & it stank, I mean really stank.

I mean it looks healthy and normal to me and i wouldn’t be concerned about it but if you are maybe seek some professional advice. Is your baby seemingly in pain or uncomfortable?

I agree with the cooled boiled water and a cotton pad to wipe over it. You could also use a small amount of germalene. If it’s no better by Monday,
see a doctor if you’re still concerned

She seems fine in herself, I’ll try some saline on it and see. Thank you all so much for the advice - it’s so hard to know whether I’m just being overly anxious as a new mum!
No funky smell

Always get things checked when they’re so little is my advice. No one can say it’s fine from a photo. Also you’ll feel better after checking. I would ring the health visitor or 111 tomorrow.

It looks ok, keep it clean with cooled boiled water.
It's not an emergency but maybe Monday see if GP/HV can take a look

UpUpUpU · 21/09/2024 21:39

Make sure it gets plenty of air too. Keep the nappy folded down and expose it whenever you can

Ruelzdontapply · 21/09/2024 21:46

Looks good to me

meganna · 21/09/2024 22:20

It looks ok to me, I would just let air at it as much as possible and try to let it dry out.
