Potty training successful but one slight problem......

.......he refuses to wear pants!!

He gets the whole toilet thing when he is not wearing his nappy but once I attempt to put a pair of pants on he either goes mad about not wanting pants on or if he is wearing them he wets himself.

Don't think this is on purpose he seems genuinely surprised. I have tried to explain to him but he just doesn't seem to "get it" when pants are involved....help!!

Either let him go commando under trousers, or try shorts under trousers.

then try pants again in a week or two.

My DS was exactly the same a week ago, loves his Thomas pants but cried if I tried to put them on, and had more accidents with them on. He's quickly got better at no accidents in pants though after I took to hiding them in his trousers before pulling them up, and now seems to have got the message/used to the feeling. Now he's commando at home and in pants if we're out as he still prefers no pants but I worry its a bit rough for his bits if he's in jeans!!

We're the same as Maygirl here, IF boy wears pants I hide them in his shorts and put on both together. Hes more reliable with out pants tho so tends to go comando if shorts are long enough to be respectable.
I think pants are too much like a nappy in the way they feel, for boy at the mo, he gets confused. One friend swears by boxer shorts instead of pants .

I hadn't thought of hiding the pants. TBH I haven't even tried him commando just assumed we would have the same result. I think I will try him with just shorts on then and see how we go, he's clearly about to control his own bladder, he toilets himself at home but when the pants go on...............
