Just a bit of advice please. What age do you start a bedtime routine? What does it involve and when do you start putting them in a crib during the day (I already put my one in their crib at night but not during day)?

I think we started to try about 4 months. Bath, bottle bed was how we started. Although DS slept through the night at 3 months and basically continued (minus a few 4am wake ups around 7 months)

Until then keep establishing day and night differences. In the morning we go downstairs/to the living room and it's light/noise around and at night we go in the bedroom and its dark/ quiet. It helps.

In terms of the crib during the day, we were quite late. Think 8/9 months. Until then it was contact naps to save my sanity. Tried around 6 months and it was an absolute no go.

The switch was fine though when we tried again. Went in no problems.

It's really up to you and whether you need the routine or not. Some babies are very routine bound so it's easier and some aren't. I started with DS1 age 2 before nursery and DS2 age 3 months.

Doesn't make a difference long term. My 2yo (now 3) settles as well as my other who is now 2.

My first got used to staying up late or sleeping in the car on the way home, so we were out til 10pm with him. If you don't have to be up early then let the baby get used to your lifestyle.
