Baby swimming if think unwell?

Hi

We went to a baby class last week and I noticed one of the babies appeared to have a cold. Sneezing constantly, running nose and generally looked unwell. The mum insisted he was just a sneezy baby.

My 4 month old has now been sneezing and coughing since yesterday and sounded congested in her breathing overnight.
We have a swimming class booked for today but I am unsure if I should take her. On the one hand she may not come down with a cold as she's smiling away this morning but then if she is I don't want to infect any other babies in the class. Am I right to not go or am I being over cautious?
Thanks in advance anyone. Nervous first time mum here 😊

I’m afraid you’ve got years of your baby being snotty and you’ll never leave the house if you don’t do things when they’ve got a cold. My children seem to have runny noses from mid September to March. Calpol menthol plugins were a godsend and helped mine sleep when they were congested. Think they might be for 6 month plus though.

My rule of thumb was if they were happy in themselves then crack on. Any fever they’d be at home and resting. It’s harder in the middle if they’re a bit off- for swimming I’d generally not take if they were feeling grotty or tired as it wipes them out.
