Ergobaby 360, newborn insert, and big baby

I have an 8 week old who is 6.6kg, 96th percentile so a chunky boy.
The carrier I have says to use the newborn insert until their 4months and or over 5.5kg.
When I use it his feet seem really trapped between me, the waist band and the cushion, but without it his legs seem to naturally try to wrap around me rather than dangle in M shape because of the material. I'm going on holiday in 2 weeks and could really do with having the carrier for the airport but want to make sure he's comfy and safe.
He's got good head and neck control so it's only his leg placement that's the issue.
Any advice please? ☺️

She's top of height so 'M
bmi is fine, but even if not I'm not letting her get hungry. I've never had a bmi over 20. She's a chubby baby. She needs freedom from bmi

When mine were in the between stage I think the newborn insert came in two parts? Mine is nearly 8 years old now but I took out the cushion but left the outer part. Does that help at all?

He's over 5.5kg so you don't need it,, just take it out.

I much preferred stretchy wraps/ ring slings at that age though. More comfortable and very comfortable to leave on but whip baby I and out when travelling. I had the omni 360 so could use from birth but pretty much always chose the fabric slings until 3 months or so.

is there a sling library near you that you can visit and they can show you how to use it? I found it very helpful. Have a lovely holiday!

Thank you @LF82 and thank you all for the advice! There is one in the nearest city to me, I think £20 per session or a free zoom so I might do the free session as it's guidance on an already owned one!
I'll take it out going forward, thanks all!
