How much stimulation does a 3 week old need?

DS is 3 weeks old and starting to worry that I am not doing much to stimulate him mostly because I am too tired and it's a challenge to just get through the day. We of course speak to him (though not constantly as recommended by many books), play music to him and kiss and cuddle him constantly but is there anything else we should be doing or is it too early?

Definitely too early, honestly! I think at 3 weeks old all they want is milk and cuddles. Make sure you get some rest when the baby is sleeping and try not to worry, it sounds like you are doing a great job so far.

it is exhausting isn't it? People do warn you but you just can't your head around until until they arrive. Totally worth it though and yes, the newborn smell is amazing!!

none

except simply being awake, feeding and being cuddled

an overstimulated baby is harder to settle

don;t worry about anything other than feeding and cuddles right now. for at least 6 months!

You are doing fine. If you have one you could put him down on a baby gym for five minutes / as long as he finds it interesting (this has added benefit that you can combine nipping to the loo with doing something educational and improving) but it isn't necessary and won't make much difference. Just keep doing what you are doing .

Oh, I can also recommend rubbing your nose on his while saying "meep...meep...meep..."
