17 month old nap schedule

Hi!

Could anyone help me with an “ideal” nap schedule for a 17 month old? She is fighting her second nap. For MONTHS she’s done the below and it’s worked perfectly but not so much in the last week:

0730 Wake
1015-1045 - Nap
1545-1630 - Nap
1930 - Bed

We tried a lunchtime nap but she was exhausted by then and only slept 40 mins and then was crying. But recently in her second nap she walks around in her cot babbling and then cries.

thank you!

One nap at that age. Lunch before around 11.30, nap at 12. Might be short to start with but will gradually get used to sleeping for longer, ideally two hours. Bring bedtime forward to start with (though no earlier than 6). Rest in pushchair in morning / afternoon to get you through, but no sleeping in there.

Oh dear it was a disaster. She did one hour then woke up screaming and shouting and crying. Perhaps she still needs two!

Hmm coming back to this - she did an hour and woke up unhappy but then has been fine the rest of the day!

Every child is different and I think you just have to go with the flow eg eldest dropped all daytime naps by 17 months - but slept 12 hours overnight. Couldn't 'schedule' a nap (or naps) because they simply did not nap!

That is so true, each child is unique! Must’ve been a long day with no nap!!

My 16 month has been on 1 nap since around 13 months. 4.5ish hrs after waking up, for around 2.5hrs, tho I have to wake up her by 2.45, to mean she's asleep by 8.15 (5.5hr needed before bed)

My 16-month-old wakes crying after a two hour nap, it’s just the way he is. But I know any more and he has middle of the night parties. It’s just an adjustment period, you could do some days with two naps where she really can’t make it until 11.30, and other days try for one. Then gradually the days with just one nap will become more and more frequent. Don’t overthink it.

I’d like to thank everyone for their help. You were all correct! After a week, she has gotten into her routine and doing 1.5-2h. I just had to stick with it. Thank you all.
