1 yo contact with ex husband

Can anyone advise how much contact a 1 year old should have with their father if the father lives several hours away? I am refusing the child travelling to the father as they are too young to be going up and down the country. That means the child won't be staying overnight with their dad if I can help it unless dad moves nearby. Just to mention the father was abusive towards me but not to the child, just hugely incompetent about caring for them.

Is he asking for contact or do you feel he should have some to keep the relationship going? Would your DC really benefit if he was abusive towards you? Zero contact could be best until your DC is an adult so your ex has no influence on their development?

What contact is he asking for @Flumpster34? And has he applied formally for a Child Arrangements Order?

Whether you're BFing will also be a factor at this age too

He has told me he wants regular contact (but hasn't applied to court yet). I don't mind some contact but not overnight and I also refuse to give up breastfeeding yet. I'm afraid of what the courts might decide. I am not even sure if he is preparing to move nearby. I don't see how contact will work otherwise.
