Hi all, my little one was born at 34 weeks 2 and is still in hospital for jaundice but is generally feeding really well.

One thing, I am breastfeeding at the moment and I was under the impression that his poo is turn into more green/yellow liquid consistency once he reached 7 days old. However it's still more like meconium and black and tarry. Is this a sign of infection?

I would ask a midwife.

It’s a sign he’s probably not getting enough milk at the moment. Ask for a feeding assessment and some help

I would ask a midwife.

I have but response has been noncommittal and was told 'nothing to worry about'. Obviously I am worried

Hi how is your baby a few days on from this post? My 4 day old is worrying me sick for some reason, what that reason is I don’t know, I think it’s just my anxiety. Anyway, she’s pooping 3-5 times a day and they are still a dark green colour. Some websites say it’s normal and that it’s the colour of ‘transitional stools’ but others say that colour is still straight up meconium still.

This is my third baby, I have successfully breastfed my other two children with no issues but I can tell this baby isn’t as much of an efficient feeder like her brothers were. I’m fed up of worrying. I think the midwife comes out to me today so we shall see what she says.
