Potty training DS1 - how do I direct his penis in the right direction?

We have a big 3 stage potty with lid at home which has a pop up bit inbetween his legs to stop the wee going over the seat and everywhere else.

I also bought a padded trainer toilet seat thing and a small potty for out and about, BUT more wee ends up on the floor and DS than in the potty or loo.

So, what am I doing wrong here? Can anyone recommend any potties or toilet seats that are good for boys?

even with a splash guard you need to check their willy is pointing down into the potty, not side ways or upwards. it will take a lot of reminding and chcking before he learns to tuk him self in autmaticly.

Ok - I confess the below was news to me too. I asked Dh about it cos we had 2 such wees on floor despite being tucked in today.
Apparently its all to do with the foreskin and which way the hole in that is pointing, so while it may all look like its pointing downwards ... weee may actully be coming out sideways - and at some force. So may be hitting side of potty and rebounding.
Dh recoms its just time and prctise for a boy to learn he needs to adust himself a bit. till then I gues I have to keep mopping up.

I feared that might be the case! I have resorted to laying a prefold nappy on the floor under the potty to absorb the wee.

Yeah, we do similar with some old hand towels.
One of todays was in pub loo tho! fortunatly there was plenty of loo roll.

I just got DS to pole his willy down and it seemed to go in the right place.
