Separation anxiety at 3

Hi everyone,

FTM here! My little girl has been settling at nursery (age 3) and has been doing well. I’m a teacher and over the summer obviously spent a lot of time with her and we started settling before I went back to work. She was getting on fine. I work part time so she gets 4 days a week with me and 3 with my parents/nursery.

Since I’ve returned to work she’s been struggling. I know this is a big transition for her and the first time we’ve left her with anyone but family. She now cries when I drop her with my parents even if she doesn’t have nursery that day. She also gets really upset and clingy to me when I go anywhere at all(sometimes even if it’s just to the toilet!) and isn’t happy to be left with her Dad. She’s never really been like this before. I’ve tried all the usual things (love hearts on her hand etc) but just wondered if there were any suggestions for ways to support her/ease the crying/stress!

thank you ☺️

Has anything else changed at all?

Nope, this is the only change to her routine.
