After a blanket denial by other parents to recognise cheese strings (dd's party), I'll start with:
Ribena
processed cheese slices
coke for children
readymeals for children

and we are vegetarian.
Aside from that, dig in

Now grated cheese... I don't understand that at all.

he could, but the minute i get in there and see all that LOVELY red meat i forget about chicken. and i'd probably have to phone in advance which i am also useless at. he's a schlepp away so i don't go unless i'm in the area. but i will try to remember the next time, i promise.

Pot Noodles ... the slaaaaaag of all snacks

ImightbeLulumama · 18/04/2008 13:09

we have barely any red meat at all now. just the odd spag bol or chilli

our butcher is ace, spent twenty minutes hoicking a lamb carcass around and explaining all the different cuts.

DD was impressed, and it takes a lot!

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 18/04/2008 13:24

is lamb not red? what does that count as?

Roseylea · 18/04/2008 13:25

Blimey...well in our house we've got dd who's allergic to wheat, soya, nuts and eggs, me who's lactose intolerant and eats a weirdy diet due to stomach illness, dh who would live off Ray Bentos pies and coke given half a chance (which he doesn't get!) and ds who is destined to be a surgeon in later life, such is the precision with which he pokes around his dinner plate trying to find anything green so that he can wail loudly that he doesn't like it.

So banned foods? Well, Fray Bentos pies, obviously! (most of the time anyway. If I'm really ill then I'll let the odd one ship the net) We don't buy stuff with hydrogenated oil in it, but mostly we try to do our best and eat as healthily as we can. I have to cook most things from scratch, otherwise dd would never eat.

Btw we went to Papa Johns Pizza emporium recently and I asked to check the ice cream ingredients for dd (thinking, stupidly, that there might be some proper ingredients in there like eggs or wheat) and it was all pure sugar, reconstituted dried milk nad hydrogenated fat. Mmmmmmmmmm.......

uberalice · 18/04/2008 13:25

Crisps other than salt & shake (I remove the salt)
Sugary breakfast cereals
Anything from Nestle
Battery chicken eggs

ImightbeLulumama · 18/04/2008 13:27

yes, it is , we weren;t buying it, he was just chopping it up and DH was asking him lots of questions!

i find lamb very hard to cook well

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 18/04/2008 13:31

just do as madhur tells you, lulu. i SWEAR to you this is the most DELICIOUS curry you've ever tasted in your life. takes a bit of work, though, it's for special occasions only.

i sound like a curry fiend, btw. i amn't, but i like a good one.

ImightbeLulumama · 18/04/2008 13:33

i like indian food, would love to do a cookery course, decent indian food is so tasty

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 18/04/2008 13:36

promise me you'll try this recipe then lulu. grown men have wept, i swear. i do it with rice and a dal if we have mates coming round and send dh and pal out for a pint the rest of the bits, pakora and chapatis etc that i can't do as well as the lovely mr mohammed in our local indian restaurant can.

branflake81 · 18/04/2008 13:52

I think you're all very fussy. There's a difference between banning and just not buying/allowing occasionally. Just my thoughts.

miku · 18/04/2008 13:58

some stuff is incredibly addictive tho'-chocolate and coke, and plastic cheese....
but IM addicted to choc and have to HIDE it from my daughter...or give her a square as a treat

Backtracking - tell me what's wrong with Tescos? Not mentioning removing salt from crisps - buy rice cakes instead? Ponce moment - DS had massive strop when I wouldn't buy him rice cakes and wanted to get chocolate snack thing. Off to tie dye stuff with kids, preening.
