Toddler on bike seat

My SO is an avid biker and has just bought my LO a bike seat. This freaks me out as I do not ride a bike. We’be agreed on some rules and safe places but can anyone reassure me my Lo will be fine? Thanks

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My DH has one of these for DS (2) he loves it! You'll know they'll need a helmet but also make sure they get some sunglasses that have the strap to keep them on because they get dust etc in their eyes. But they'll be fine!! I was worried about my husband going too fast, being reckless.... All the usual mum worries that never happened. I'd encourage it if I were you. I get hours of peace whilst they are out on the bike 😂
They tend to stick to bike paths at beaches, woods etc I'm not so keen on any road cycling even though I'm sure they'd be fine.

I cycle every day with my 2 year old on the back in his Thule seat. He loves it! I ride more slowly and carefully than if I were alone....the bike is also a lot heavier with him on!

Thank you both that’s helpful to know other people do it and all is fine!

I live in the Netherlands. It’s how most children get to nursery (and lots of other places).

Noone can say it will always be fine obviously but they can say that millions of children worldwide are ridden around on bikes & motorscooters, maybe get a bike & go with them.

Don't let them go on a road. Car drivers seem to have their eyes closed most of the time. I see a family regularly on 30mph residential roads of my estate and it makes me feel sick.

Otherwise, strapped in and with a helmet (and maybe some hefty sleeves) they should be absolutely fine. Thousands of people use these everyday and I've never seen a clickbait article or anything about any accidents.
