Help returning to work

I am after some advice please as this is causing me so much stress and anxiety.

I am a police officer but currently on mat leave - I have decided to take the full year off so won't be returning until next year now. However my problem is that it is genuinely impossible for me to be able to return back to being a front line police officer as I can't work the shifts. My husband works long hours: 0730 - 2230 and is then on call over night and nursery is obviously only able to look after my little one between 8 - 1800, so realistically I can only work between 9 - 1700. I have to commute 1 hour to work and we don't have any family around to help us.

I have explained to HR my situation but they have been ZERO help to me, infact I feel as though I am unemployed. There advice has been to just keep looking at any internal jobs which may come up (nothing has for the past 4 months of looking) and to apply for them (so I could not even get the job).
I'm just wondering where I stand really.. do they have to try and accommodate me? Should they be helping more? Has anyone else been in this situation? I feel as though I'm just being pushed to leave if I'm honest.

Thank you in advance
