School shoes for a 10yo

What are good school shoes for a 10yo boy with big feet?

DS is adult size 6, which means the local children’s shoe shop I used to go to doesn’t have much in his size.

My 10 year old DD is size adult 7. We still get school shoes from M&S.

Is he allowed trainers ?

There were quite a few in my local tkmaxx earlier. Can't remember what brands some kickers and Levis I think amongst others. Possibly worth a look.

StartRite, Clark’s and M&S all do boys school shoes up to a 9.

ETA: from experience (dc are 17 and 14), M&S shoes are very good quality for the money and can last a year. They have measuring gauges in store.

DS’s feet were the same size as his school year all the way up to Y12. He has feet that are difficult to fit.

Two specific styles of Startrite lace ups (one more trainer-like at primary, one slightly more formal for secondary) got us through most of it, and were hardwearing. Clarks’ men’s shoes for 6th form.

(Edited to add : Startrite Rhino school shoe styles go up to size 10. Lace ups are better than Velcro for strange feet!)
