Toddler refusing to sit in bath

My 2y3m old has always loved the bath but recently (about the last week) he won’t sit down at all. If we ask him to sit he just wants to get out, and when we put toys in he just bends down and picks them up, so the 2 main tips I’ve read online don’t seem to help!

My feeling is that it’s just a phase to ride out but DH gets really wound up by it, and I’m due to give birth any day now so it’s likely he’ll be doing more bath times for a bit. Any tips on getting him to sit would be appreciated!

Just use a jug to wash DC down with the bath water, soap up, and rinse with jug. Not sure why it's an issue? A battle of wills is not worth the drama.

I turned the shower on with the plug in and DC wandered in and out of it while I washed them, which seemed to work.

Then that phase ended and the bubble bath phase started.

Yep. Standing toddler baths. Don't fret, just be on guard for when they slip and either wallop the back of their head, bash their new teeth against the side, or do a Luke Skywalker in the trash compactor and just suddenly disappearing under water.

I don't think anyone is suggesting a toddler stands up in a full, slippery bath. That would be foolish.

I think this is a case of “Least said, soonest mended.” You’ll get through this phase much more quickly and smoothly if you stop making a fuss about it.
