Okay I am feeling some serious mum guilt. So before deciding to try for a baby I was a smoker. Obviously I stopped when we decided to have our little lady. She's 5 months now and I've recently had some massive stresses and have struggled to cope so I bought a vape as a bit of a outlet. But I feel horrendous mum guilt! I don't smoke near her or in the house but I feel like a terrible mum. Just needed to vent not looking for anyone to say smoking is fine but just that it doesn't change the face that I do everything I can to be a good mummy. Thanks

It's fairly gross. Well done for stopping smoking, but now you need to take the next step of stopping exposing your little one to harmful chemicals, bad smells, and poor habits.

You're right smoking is a disgusting habit and I did stop so that I could have a healthy baby and pregnancy. I started again now because I cracked under extreme stress (annoyingly). I fully intend to not make it a habit.

Anyway thanks for the comment. I was looking for a conversation about it not judgement :)

Listen to Allen carrs book on quitting vaping (it's free on Spotify) it's absolutely amazing and I literally just quit; no problem

You need to try and disassociate the vaping with the stress. It's a total myth that it helps, in fact it makes it worse as it adds in the stress of a nicotine addiction. Swap it for breathing exercises, it's the breathing of smoking and calling that actually gives the calming sensation. Alongside relieving nicotine craving that you've ironically created yourself.

Ah I hear you OP, it's so easy to fall into the trap of these little habits that help relieve the stress quickly. It sounds like you can give it up pretty easy and have just had an exhausting time recently - go easy on yourself x

Is the vaping helping with the stress if you've now added another stress worrying about vaping with a baby and having mum guilt from it?

Hit the nail on the head there!

Urgh I've never even smoked and recently developed a nasty vaping habit! They do make them bloody addictive. Feel for you. We can make healthy changes when we're ready to feel better :)

That's the problem you try it and then you're hooked. I've just binned mine. Wish me luck 🤞🤞 hope you manage to kick it soon but don't put pressure on yourself either.
