Talk to me about pocket nappies...

I have a lovely stash of shaped nappies and wraps (no two the same!) and terries. I also have ONE old style fuzzi bunz, which I adore - easy to put on when out, great with extra stuffing for night, dries quickly - fab nappy. So I want to explore more pocket nappies...

what do you recommend? I would buy more fuzzis, but they're so damn expensive, even 2nd hand! If anyone had the odd pocket, medium size (ds is 4 months), they wanted to sell - so much the better!

I rate bumgenius and blueberries one size pockets - both great and the blueberries are just gorgeous, but £££

Rubbish, imho, mommys touch and wonderoo - but they have lots of fans, think my DD is just the wrong build for them.

Nowt to sell, sorry!

PuppyDogTails · 16/04/2008 22:20

I like our Swaddlebees but have nothing to compare them to.

BigBadMouse · 16/04/2008 22:23

Explore these! They are fab, never had a leak, loads of fabric choices (you can even design your own). Fantastic design - the best pocket nappy IMO, and I have used nearly all of them.

They come up second hand fairly often but the older versions will be slightly different to the current so check - I think V3 is current. Sometimes she has seconds, email and ask nicely, she's really helpful.

ooh, they look truly yummy...
One of the things i like about fuzzis is that the fabric itself has a bit of give in it, so the fit is perfect. Are the pocket bots - or any other pockets - like that?

ii have a medium happy heiny with sea creatures on it that I could sell for £5 including the postage/packing, but I don't take paypal, not sure if that is a prob? I only use it for out and about changing bag so it's still in very very good condition. let me know if you're interested

hawesmead5 · 19/04/2008 10:06

Hi there
I bought some old style fuzzis off these guys www.boocoobargains.blogspot.com/ they were a great company to deal with and the fuzzis were fab! They are £7 per nappy without insert and £9 a fuzzi with insert.

oliviaelanasmum · 19/04/2008 11:32

I have a black pocket nappy with skulls printed on it £3 plus post. All the rest are quite girly as i have 3 dd's.

oliviaelanasmum · 19/04/2008 11:33

Oh and i love Minky nappies, they rarely leak and are lovely fleece fabrics. Can be bulky though. I do have a rainbow striped slini minki for sale too.

Flamesparrow · 19/04/2008 12:17

www.nappyzone.co.uk have oodles of pockets.

It seems odd promoting another nappy seller, but BumFluff tends to just have the mainstream fuzzi, minki, wonderoo - NZ is passionate about pockets so tends to get more variety. Ooh I can flash wee notions pockets at you on bumfluff

GreenMonkies · 19/04/2008 17:49

Ohhh, I love Bumgenius and Blueberrys too, Blueberry are having a sale atm, buy two get two free, I am trying to resist......

I stuff mine with terry squares. I have a minki but it's huge, however, it's a lovely night time nappy and I'm tempted to get another.

Monkies

GreenMonkies · 19/04/2008 18:10

Oh, someoneonce asked me how I folded terries to fit in pockets, I use a variation on the pleat fold that you can adjust to be any length or width, which is great for different sized pockets. Here is a slideshow of it, I use all kinds of variations, two muslins folded together give a nice slim bottom, a thick terry (Little Ewe) and a muslin is great for over night, a lighter weight terry for general day time, I only use "proper" inserts now and then, I generally save them for the nursery to use as they are the simplest but do need changing often.

Monkies

(cloth nappies are one of my favourite subjects, can you tell........?)

Nappyzone · 19/04/2008 19:16

aWWW cheers flamey!!! im back yoo hoo! Greenkids every time at the moment muddled in with bumgenius - but oh now greenkids have released minkytimes (same material as blueberrys) i am in pocket heaven!

Thanks flame - shes the two parter and wool queen of cloth she is

sushistar · 19/04/2008 22:35

Thanks for all the advice and links guys. Some lovely nappies - I must get ebaying to raise funds! BTW, are there any pocket nappies you'd suggest definatly AVOIDING?

Hi morrocco, yes I'd be interested in your happy heiny if it comes with an insert?

Oliviaelanas mum - didn't I buy nappies from you before? The black skulls sound a little too goth for us, but I'm interested in the rainbow minky - again, does it have an insert? How much are you asking?

Thanks for all your expertise everyone!

morocco · 19/04/2008 22:47

sorry, sushistar, no insert, but you can use cheapo microfibre cloths to stuff

sushistar · 19/04/2008 22:49

Morocco, would you be willing to accept £4?

OP posts:
fizzybellasmum · 19/04/2008 23:46

I love Mommy's Touch and I've just ordered Wonderoos. -very quick drying and even better with Microfibre inserts (I just use folded mf cloths). I don't have too much problem with them and my DD is a year old today with slim hips. I do have a couple of minkys but they look a bit bulky and 1 has been known to leak (stitched up wrong I think)and a MotherEve - looks like Mommy's touch but velcro, BTP with adjustable gusset elastic - not bad but can look bulky and they don't make them anymore.
I have reproofed my Mommy's Touch with waterproof shoe spray in the past (inside out on the PUL side only obviously)- it seemed to help.

oliviaelanasmum · 21/04/2008 17:53

Sushi i would like £4.50 posted for the minki, it hasn't got an insert but i use microfibre cloths 89p for 3 from supermarket. Yes you bought some nappies from me before

sushistar · 21/04/2008 18:11

oliviaelenas mum, thanks for the offer but I'll decline for the moment - dh thinks I am spending too much on nappies!
But I'll be in touch once I have ebayed some funds to pay for more. Thank you!

morocco · 21/04/2008 20:49

sorry for delay, sushistar, forgot to come back to the thread
I can't go below £5 at the moment, but I can wait if you need to raise the funds first

sushistar · 22/04/2008 09:40

thanks morocco. Well, if someone else wants it sell to them first, but i may be back.
