My son is three years eight months and his listening skills are … non existent
and while we’ve got another year before school it is preying on my mind a bit.
So - example; we’re walking on some steps with no safety rail so I’m telling him to move over to the bannister. Absolutely nothing in response and someone else ended up moving him over for me. I don’t know if he genuinely couldn’t hear me or not.
Yesterday he was at the bottom of a flight of stairs and someone was coming down so asked him to move - again, nothing. I ended up moving him physically so they could get past but I’m not always going to be able to do that.
He doesn’t appear to understand a few things that if I’m honest I thought he would by now and one of the problems is if you do try to talk to him he doesn’t listen … so eg can’t explain the rules of a game or how to behave somewhere.
No concerns from nursery but it is troubling me as he approaches 4; I thought he’d be more responsive by now.
