Big first time mom error

I was bouncing my 11 week old baby and she chuckled for the first time
My mom then told me I can’t bounce a baby till 6 months old
I was then googling loads because I felt awful, on Google it says it can lead to shaken baby syndrome
She seems fine but I am now really worried about if she has it
I obviously would have never bounced her if I knew and won’t bounce her again
is she ok?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

She will be absolutely fine op ❤️

Refugenewbie · 20/08/2024 16:43

Yes she's fine.

SummerSplashing · 20/08/2024 16:45

She'll be fine, of course you can bounce them gently, there's a world of difference between bouncing and shaking!!

treat everything you mum says with caution!!

come back on here & ASK. A hundred times if you need to
xx

Enjoy your baby 😍

She’s absolutely fine. Bouncing babies is fine. Shaking them is not. There is a very big difference!

Please stop worrying. Put it this way, a baby bouncer is a thing most parents use, right.

mindutopia · 20/08/2024 18:17

She will be fine. Bouncing is not shaking. Just make sure she has plenty of head and neck support.

MochaLove · 20/08/2024 18:49

Please do not worry! You really do have to properly shake a baby to cause that sort of damage. I am a paediatric nurse with a young baby and even worried myself at times about things like this, but you wouldn’t have caused your baby harm by bouncing her so that she laughed. X

Step away from Google! It only leads to DOOM and GUILT.

She is fine and she's happy and loved.

I hope you enjoy many more bouncy chuckles with her 😀
