DS6 Bluey lunchbox

First world problems I know...

My DS turned 6 in April and is going into year 2. We went shopping for school supplies today and he picked a Bluey lunch box. He loves Bluey and watches it with DS2 who is 3. I'm a wee bit worried for him that he will be teased at school because it's not "cool" or is for younger kids. Ds is a sensitive wee soul and this would really upset him. Just wondering what other parents with DC aged 6/7 think? He does love slightly older shows like teen titans and loud house etc and has a teen titans school bag for sept - of all the shows the kids watch bluey is by far my favourite so I'm delighted he still loves it. Hopefully I'm just over thinking and it will be ok...

You can’t tell him it’s a wrong choice, you just have to be prepare if he tells you it was

Let him have what he likes and support him not to be bothered by what other children think and to be his own person. My DS absolutely loves the RNLI I realise this is unusual but that's what he loves, he has RNLI wellies for school and proudly tells his friends about the rescues and bravery of lifeboat staff and volunteers. He'll be six later this year.

My 6yo loves Bluey and would probably be quite jealous of the lunchbox. Bluey is awesome.

Actually, my 40yo DH would probably be jealous of the lunchbox. Grin

Agree with you both, I let him get the lunchbox and I'm prepared to tell him not to worry and that people all like different things etc if it does come up as an issue at school.. hopefully it won't though. DH and I are mid 30s and still like Bluey lol.

RLNI is v cool we live in a sea side town and they'd be really appreciated here!

My ds and his best mate (both 6 going into yr2) spent two hours of a sleepover the other night watching bluey! I think you'll be fine.

My 10 and 11 year old's both love bluey. Some of my 11 year old's classmates were calling him a baby for watching bluey. So his teacher stood up and told the whole class that he liked bluey too!

My 6 year old (also going into year 2) loves bluey and would think the lunchbox is awesome.

My DS is almost 6 and loves Bluey. Plenty of children in his reception class had Bluey branded bags/clothes/PJs (for some reason that had several PJ days!) last year. Lots of my friends have older kids (7/8/9 range) who also enjoy it. I’d imagine lots of kids have just seen it on Disney+ and enjoyed it and probably aren’t even aware it’s on CBeebies (which might be considered ‘babyish’ or whatever).

I’m a teacher and have had classes in Year 2 and Year 3 full of children who still love Bluey! It’s actually how I first found out about the show, even though I have a toddler myself! Whenever we have ‘golden time’ or wet play screen time, my current class (Y3) will often ask to watch Bluey. I think you’ll be fine.

FacingTheWall · 17/08/2024 23:52

My 16yo dd would love a Bluey lunch bag!

I wouldn’t worry. Kids pay far less attention to these things than we think.

glowdownto · 17/08/2024 23:56

I'll get one for my husband he's a massive bluey fan and my ten year old.

Thanks everyone you've really put my mind at ease!

My nearly 10 year old still loves Bluey!

My little boy has just turned 6, he is obsessed with Bluey! He is going into year 2.
I have bought him a bluey lunchbox I didn’t even think about him being bullied as he’s only 6.
