My daughter came home the other day with police escort to pack her clothes and leave the home. Her boyfriend, his mom, and her friend were waiting for her outside our home as the cop brought out her bags of clothing. What a scene! So embarrassing!! She has moved into her boyfriend's home with his mom. She has a car that we paid for. She has a RESP account of $7,000 left for this year's tuition for college. We have saved money in a savings account of $6000 and $50,000 in an investment account. Before she left, I told the cop she needed to leave her car and the keys to the car and her home on the table. The car is in my hubby's name. She disagreed, but the cop made her leave these behind. Why would we let her continue to do her own thing if she is moving out??

She gave up her car, her education, her money that's put away and her parents to go play house with him at his mom's home. Help me understand this, please! We are devastated!

Well I don't think we know.
I guess the best place to start would be why the police came with her. I'm guessing that might be a cue

*clue

Go on a $6000 vacation to raise your spirits.

Why were the police involved?

Police? Why? What relevant things are missing

lifesrichpageant · 17/08/2024 05:44

OP this is awful! Any update?

Fraaahnces · 17/08/2024 05:46

My guess is that she’s playing “poor me” to go and stay with the boyfriend. Let’s see how long it lasts there.

MoveToParis · 17/08/2024 05:47

There is something so snide and dismissive about the phrase Play House.

You obviously got complicated feelings here, but you seem much more angry and insulted than devastated.

you need to really ask yourself questions as to your own role in it, rather than pretend you are utterly blameless.

Fraaahnces · 17/08/2024 05:48

She’s obviously told police that she feels unsafe at home or is being abused.

WhiteBedding · 17/08/2024 05:50

Nothing about this makes sense. Police don't just accompany people to help carry their bags when they want to move out. You need to explain what the background to this is OP, then people might be better able to offer advice.

I suspect OP doesn’t actually want anyone to give well-informed advice. She wants us all to read these fragments of what is obviously a more complex story and say “oh you poor thing, your daughter is so entitled and foolish.”

autienotnaughty · 17/08/2024 06:10

If your dd felt she needed police presence then I'd be questioning myself as to why.

Sounds like she has some money to keep her going until she gets sorted so that's a positive.

Do you want what's best for her or you?

YouZirName · 17/08/2024 06:52

I can't wait for OP to a) never come back to this thread or b) give us a massive drip feed

Can we have a poll on which one it will be?

Cornholioooo · 17/08/2024 12:33

You're not the OP who recently went to see DD without telling her in advance and went to her boyfriend's shared house and made a scene are you?

MermaidEyes · 17/08/2024 12:37

Police escort?! Must be a US thing 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm guessing so with the talk of USD.

Whole thread is baffling.
