Siblings stuff

I grew up as an only child, and am struggling to traverse some of the every day sibling stuff having no experience of living through it. Any recommendations for books or experience you could share with me?

They get on well, it's not that they're fighting or anything (I'm told this will change) but sometimes one gets something the other doesn't and the emotional fallout is huge. For example today the older has a playdate, the younger is not invited. We've not bigged it up too much but it's really making the little sad, and I am hearing about it every 5 minutes...for days. I've tried recognising feelings, coming up with a plan for our day together but if I make our day sound too good then the big one gets envious. It's kinda draining!! I think it should be okay for each one to have things just for them sometimes, feels like part of life and you just gotta suck it up?!

Any pro tips on situations like this?

It will pass. Just remember that this conflict gives them the opportunity to developing coping strategies.
