Kids going abroad without me for first time

My ex H and I split up about 18 months ago and he is taking the kids on holiday near Barcelona this Saturday for a week. (They are 7 and 15)

I’m pretty lucky in terms of we co-parent fine and there really aren’t any issues at all.

It’s just the thought of them being on a plane and abroad without me being there is actually making me really anxious. (I don’t get anxious about stuff usually and it’s kind of affecting my sleep and my work)

He’s been good and will do all the usual keeping me updated and giving me their flight numbers and stuff.

Im going to try and keep busy, go away for a few days etc, but am just hating the thought of this.

Anyone else find it weird the first time their kids went away without them?

Yes, the anxiety was quite bad. We just made sure they communicated when boarding the plane and upon landing with regular updates whilst away.
It doesn't bother me now though. I look forward to it now.

Exactly the same here - 9yo DD going abroad with ExH this weekend. I feel very odd about it.

It's the first steps to more independence, I felt very odd when DD went on her first camp with Brownies aged 7 or 8.

DD has just been on a month away visiting friends and family overseas after doing her GCSEs. I missed her but am proud of her confidence and independence.

Being a parent is a mix of helping them.not to need you while being there 100% when they do need you!
