Help!

I have no idea what to do. I will be a week post section. On SMP, so money will be tight. Can't not do anything as I don't want resentment to build towards the new baby.

I had previously thought of having lasertag - but that'll be too expensive now
Or Xbox party at home, but there is no way I will be up to house visitors.

All the local parry places (ninja warrior, etc) are £20 a head, but the minimum number really ramps the price up.

Do you have any family support? Someone who could help you organise something manageable?

angelopal · 12/08/2024 08:12

Can you do it a couple of weeks earlier before you have the baby? Do you have a partner that can help? Could you hide away and they deal with a small house party or could he take DC and a couple of friends out toman activity. Doesn't have to be a massive party.

I think your partner / 9 year olds dad should be organising and hosting this - assuming they are on the scene. A week after a c section you'll be needing to rest and will probably still be in some pain or discomfort.

What does your 9yo want to do? Could DH take them plus a couple of friends to a country park/go ape/swimming/bowling and macdonalds? So not a party with party prices but a fun day out.

ellesbellesxxx · 12/08/2024 08:25

How about the cinema?

spudnik1 · 12/08/2024 08:26

DH will be helping, but it is useless at organising anything.
At the actual party, I was thinking of leaving him to it.
Thank you whoever suggested holding it beforehand, I hadn't thought of that. That may work better . Then on his actual birthday we can have a special dinner.
It'll be the end of September.

I guarantee your husband is perfectly capable of organising a small kids party! I bet he can cope with organising things at work? He can ask his family and friends for ideas and help.

I think if it was me I'd do the party beginning of September, cheap & cheerful at home one before the baby arrives.

Then for the actual birthday I'd get husband to take them to the cinema/bowling- some kind of one on one quality time treat followed by an easy dinner altogether like favourite take away.

TakeMe2Insanity · 12/08/2024 08:57

Please do it the week before. I had ds birthday the weekend before my csec. I had lots of unimaginable things happen post csection which meant neither DH or I would be in a position to even attend a party let alone host. What happened is irrelevant but please be kind to your postpartum self.

spudnik1 · 12/08/2024 09:23

I think you are all right. Do the party beforehand. Let DH sort it out, although I will make some suggestions I can't not, not in my nature.
Thank you all
