Sensory issue and adhd

Hi, waiting for my son to be diagnosed with adhd. He has literally just nearly had a panic attack / been sick when he seen I had glitter nail varnish on. Is this a sensory issue part of adhd or something else ? He has always hated me wearing nail polish but the glitter was just too much for him.

On his own nails, yes, but why should it bother him on yours? Nail varnish is smooth and it’s not like he has to touch them

This is an ignorant comment. If op's little boy has an aversion to glitter, just seeing it could cause a reaction. If you see a spider, and you're scared of spiders, would you not feel scared, just because said spider wasn't crawling on you?

Op, my child is scared of buttons, and has a visable dramatic reaction at just seeing them. It sounds like SPD, that often coincides with autism/adhd.

Could be sensory yes. I know a child with ASD whose mum covers his weetabix over with her hand when feeding. He can happily eat them but will retch if he sees them.

in my job a work with lots neurodiverse children and I’m always cautious about wearing patterned tops or clothing, it really bothers some children (thin stripes and small chequered patterns seem to offend!)

I would say if it bothers him don’t wear it personally, life is tricky enough when you have ASD/adhd so a few accommodations from those around him isn’t a big deal.
