How often should a dummy be replaced?

Obviously if there is any sign of damage/wear, but is there a recommended time limit that says after X weeks you should replace a dummy anyway?

When you think they need replacing. We usually lost ours before they needed replacing!

ds's dummys get binned when they are really too skanky to be used anymore. he still has some that i think are the 6 month size.he is 16 months
