Baby covered face with cellular blanket

Hi there, I’m really freaked out by something that happened last night. I saw on the baby monitor recording that my baby (11 weeks) had come out of his swaddle and covered his face for ten minutes. He then uncovered it and soon started crying. Seemed normal, fed normally but I’m really stressed that he wasn’t getting enough oxygen and something may have happened. He seems fine today, has this happened to anyone else? Should I be worried or checking for something? I’m worried about brain damage or something

Will always use sleeping bags from now I feel so guilty

The point of cellular blankets is that they are breathable and safe so I'm sure he's fine. Switch to sleeping bags now for your own peace of mind. As they get more mobile it's safer to have them in sleeping bags.

Cellular blankets are recommended for precisely this reason - breathable. We used them with our DD rather than sleeping bags until she was more mobile (3ish months) and it was absolutely fine. I know you’re worried (I was too, and am currently pregnant with next one that I’m sure I’ll be stressed about too!) but this is why the guidance is specifically for cellular blankets. Hope you feel OK xx

Makes sense re cellular blankets, I just worried that it was a few layers as it was all bunched up. From the video he doesn’t seem in distress when it’s on him but I can’t help but worry. Should add that I am a first time mum!

I remember being a new mum and shitting myself that my baby had covered his face with a cellular blanket. He’s absolutely fine and I laugh about it now!
