At my wits end with 8 month olds sleep

My youngest is 8 months and is absolutely draining me. My eldest is 4.

He naps 9-10:30/11 and 2pm-3.30/4pm.

He is in bed for 6:30/7, where he then wakes up every 10 mins for about a hour until
he falls in to a deeper sleep for ONE hour at a time, until 5 or 6 am.

He wakes every hour or hour and a half, maximum 2 hours. He is breastfed so I just feed him back to sleep, otherwise there’s lots of upset and crying.

He used to do 4 hour stints but seemingly that’s a thing of the past.

His dad takes him at 6 am and I get a couple hours sleep, but the nights are relentless and I don’t understand why.

Any ideas?

They do regress at that age, it should pass..

Have you tried putting him down a little later ? He’s at the top end of sleep time there (12 hours over night and 2 2 hour naps potentially) so that might be worth a try.

Thanks for the reply.

I have, but he’s really overtired then and gets worked up.

Have you tried cutting the nap length in the day?

I roughly follow the Lucy Wolf book and for 6-8 months it's 3 naps total time 3-3.5 hours.

8 months plus is 2 naps, total time of 2.5 to 3 hours.

DD is 8 months and sometimes does 2 or 3 naps at the moment but if she naps any more than 3 hours she's up at the crack of dawn x
