DS is six months so teething will be soon. I got some powders - how do you give them to the baby?

We got a tiny little cup shaped spoon, and literally tipped it onto dd's tongue. She liked it tho!!

I sometimes put the powder onto a spoon and spoonfeed my son as he can be a bit difficult trying to poor it in him now (he is 9mo)

unfold one end and squash the paper into a sort of tube closed at one end, then tip in one go into the baby's open mouth.

my son, who is now 15 months, tilts his head back and sticks out his tongue at the sight of the A&P's. so it MUST work. or at least taste nice.

Lick your finger, stick it in powder and let baby suck it off.

Only way I could get them into ds when he was that young.

dd3 opens her mouth as soon as she sees them now but when she didnt know what they were i used to dip the dummy in the powder and give it to her a bit at a time.

Same as Armadilo and Califrau

woodenchair · 14/04/2008 20:46

make sure they are sat up though. I tried to give some to ds when he was lying down.

needless to say it went everywhere

beware of funny looks if giving them while out and about though(i did this the other day and wondered why passers by were looking at me funny, then i remembered dh's observation that they look like wraps of illegal substances to most non-parents)

Ive never tried the A&P powders, but my friend recommended I use homeopathic teething powders by either nelsons or boots own brand,as A&P did nothing for her DC, and they are FANTASTIC! Same idea but apparently soothes baby so much better. Chemist in boots told me he called them 'miracle powders'. But, straying from the point of the op, rip top of packet, squeeze into tube type opening and pour whole lot into babies mouth, try to aim for front of mouth next to tongue and not throat, as this results in lot of spluttering. Using these has cut down on our calpol consumption tons. Good luck

IKWYM diva. There is something very wrong about feeding your baby white powder from a paper wrap

MNersanonymous · 15/04/2008 14:15

Yep - we used to call it ds's baby cocaine for that very reason.
