Biting while feeding

Hi, my 7 month old baby has just got his two from teeth through, and he has bit my nipple 3 times over the past two days. To the point they have been bleeding.

I am now a nervous wreck while feeding him.

Does anyone have any tips on how to stop this.

Thank you

Say no firmly and take him off and end the feed.

It only took it happening a few times and a good ‘no!’ and mine never did it again. They become really careful with their teeth.

Thank you @mindutopia

I shouted "no" today, but it was more of a reaction the the pain of him biting me. I felt bad as he was upset with me shouting.

I had exactly this at 7 months too with my first and I thought that I'd have to give up BFing.

I rang one of the Breastfeeding Helplines and one of the things that the lovely BFC suggested was feeding lying down. Only had to do it for a couple of days and it worked for us.

Same issue here with DD 8 months. I remember it from DS and it is just a phase when they're teething. Bloody horrible though.

I agree with a "No" and end the feed for a short while.

With DS, it only lasted a few days but DD has been going strong for a week now. She was biting so much last night I gave her calpol as she seemed in pain and wouldn't actually latch. I waited 20 mins and then she finally had a feed, so I'm pretty sure it's her saying her mouth is uncomfortable.
