Colchester Borough Homes: Bedroom entitlement.
I currently live in a 2 bedroom council property.
I have a toddler and one on the way. My 16 year old sibling has just moved in with me. Due to a break down in relationship with our toxic parents, and unhealthy living conditions.
I was hoping to apply with gateway to home choice for a 3 bedroom property, I know it would likely be a long wait.
My poor sibling is due to start college in September and really needs their own space and privacy. And somewhere to put their belongings.
My understanding of the CBH bedroom entitlement is. Adults/couples are entitled to a bedroom, children under 10/16 can share a bedroom, and then children 16 and over are entitled to their own bedroom?
Would I be entitled to a 3 bedroom property?
Would I need to involved social services to take over parental responsibility for my sibling?
