Hi ladies

Im here to vent, cry, and to get some emotional support.

My now 20 month old boy started nursery and has been with virus after virus for now 3 months. 1 week in nursery, 1 at home. A few weeks ago his fever lasted so long that we were hospitalised and had throughout tests done. X rays, bloods etc. As his platalets were high (although they said they only worry if they are low) we had to wait 7 days and had tests re done, to make sure whatever infection he had it was gone. The blood test came back perfectly fine. We have had no fevers for 2 weeks now, he went back to nursery last week for the first time in ages. This week he has had a lot of snot and cough, and today a fever. His fevers are mild, nothing above 39.

I ve always suffered from health anxiety myself and when he was born i suffer it towards him. When he was born i got so poorly i had to have tratment as I wouldve spent every hour awake, scared he was going to stop breathing. I got better, and then he started nursery and forever ill!

Is this normal? This amount of illnesses? Only 2 weeks ago he had a throughout check, with bloods etc so I know he is well but i am so so triggered.

Any thoughts please💘

Unfortunately sounds normal for the first months at nursery! I didn't manage a full month at work for the first 5 or 6 months, and my little one started just after he turned one.

Totally normal for first born child settling into nursery.

Hi Op, sorry to hear he is struggling so much but echo other posters, this has been our experience too. I also have quite bad health anxiety so have found the whole experience really mentally challenging.

DS started nursery in March aged 12m and in his first 8 weeks had tonsillitis 4 times. Another time in May and another in June. He does have enlarged tonsils (well did! As they were removed 9 days ago) but we had a similar experience of a week on, a week off for the first 3 months. Multiple coughs and colds in between each bout and sometimes at the same time too. Ive been told its at least 6 months but more likely 12 before their immune system is a bit better at fighting the constant germs.
Not to say yours will be the same situation, but could also be worth checking whether enlarged tonsils or adenoids may be at play here, as they were the reason DS had tonsillitis 8 times by the time he was 14 months
