So the way i'm reading how the new school fines work you can take them out of school for 4 days without being fined?

Not sure. A friend of mine took theirs out for one day and they have been told they may be getting a fine of £60 per parent. They are awaiting the outcome.

I live in Scotland where this isn't a thing. There are no fines for taking your own children out of school for any reason and I seriously can't get my head around why it's like this in England.

Does anyone know where the children who have a parent in the fire service stand with holidays being authorised. Previously he was in the army and this was always authorised as they don’t get to chose their leave. When he moved to the fire service it continued to be authorised as they also don’t get to choose their leave it’s allocated for them. School are now saying with the legislation changes they’re unsure where we stand. For context his leave is allocated for the next two years and it’s all in term time, so this would mean not family holidays.
