Hello, we've recently claimed CB for a child born in May. We received the first payment of £206.80 two weeks ago and have just seen another payment of £103.40 is due on Monday. What's that about? Do we need to contact HMRC?

Hi, the first payment was for May and June so in arrears after your baby was born. The second payment will be for July.. It should now follow the four week pattern from this payment. Four weekly in advance so no need to contact.

Ah thank you-- so have we been paid for the entire month of May despite the birth being halfway through?

You should be paid for the baby from the Monday after they were born. The regular payments are one week in arrears and 3 in advance. If you are in any doubt it's best to ring them.
