Was at the mall and the store suddenly rearranged the racks there was a very high pitch screeching sound for about 10-15 seconds. I could not cover her ears in time. Could this damaged my 5 month hold hearing? We were 30 feet away and she was startled: ( Should I go to get it checked?

She will be fine.

Sustained, loud volumes may have an impact, but a one off loud sound is not going to hurt.

Second babies have to put up with toddler screeching - that is loud!

Have you posted about this before? I remember a similar post recently. It's very very unlikely any damage was caused.

Thank you so much, I mean she was in her carseat maybe that provided some coverage and she did not cry but it was something that even made me uncomfortable

No this is the first time I am posting about a situation like this:(
Does this happen often?

Does this happen often?

Babies being exposed to loud noises? Of course it does if they are out in the world (which they should be!)

To be honest, it wouldn't have even entered my head that the situation you have described would be an issue.

Are you generally this worried about everyday events and your baby?

Nothing you have described would worry me in the slightest and I am an audiologist. As others have already said, subsequent children have to listen to their siblings screaming and shouting so a one off loud sound like you've described wouldn't be an issue.

I must say i was fine when she was born but my anxiety level increased afterwards. I try not to worry but ever since i read that they have 10 times more hearing sensitivity i became a bit more concerned.
