Dear mumsnetters

Hope you and your LOs are all well.

Today while making breakfast for LO, he was watching kiss Rachel next to me while chewing his teether and he was pooing same time.

When u mare breakfast and left it to cool I went to change him. Howeverrrr, I realised that before I put him on the bed that the poo is clumped up and sticking to the inner thigh area and hanging off the nappy then my husband pointed out that look it's even on the floor and you must've stepped on it and I noticed a lump of it was on the floor in kitchen where his high chair is and even a bit in his high chair where he was sitting!!!

This is the first time this has happened so I am freaked out not about mess etc cos you can clean that up.

My worry is this, my LO reallyyyyy likes to chew the high chair belt... despite his matchstick monkey teether, or any other toys, or even while wtcjing miss Rachel he will chew teether for a bit and then seek out the belt and put it in his mouth. The belt had poo too on it so here I am panicking cos I think he was chewing that while the poo was stuck on it. I don't know how much he would have had too. Will this make him sick?

And also, although I cleaned underneath my slippers, there were skid marks on floor etc which I wiped but I'm scared that the miniscule remnants of his poo isn't good and will make him ill cos sometimes things go on the floor and you pick it up and I'm scared of the poo remnants spreading. Will that not make him ill? cos he is at the stage of putting things in his mouth.

And finally, I used antibacterial wipes to clean the poo off his high chair which came off surprisingly but I think it's the material of high chair which helped and I used the wipes on the belt too like proper scrubbed it but I can see a little digged inside the belt. Is this enough or a suitable way to clean it or is it better to get a sponge and fairy liquid and scrub them and dry it?

I know I am going to come across as very unreasonable and strange but in all honesty I'm a first time mum and top it off with PND I am just not in the rational headspace so pleaseee be kind.

Poo is mostly undigested food and cells from your intestine. It's not sterile like urine, but the bacteria it contains are the bacteria he already had within him. A teeny tiny Smidge of his own poo will not harm him.

Sponge with fairy liquid and water and hang in the sunshine to dry - a bit of UV will kill of any bacteria/viruses that you miss with the detergent. If you're really worried use an antibacterial spray, but then you really must make air you totally washed that out before you let him chew it again.

What kind of floor is it you are trying to clean the pop off? More or less anything by carpet a good wiping will get rid of virtually everything and no need to worry about remnants. Dettol wipe for your own peace of mind if you must, but again, make sure dettol is all gone before he's crawling in it again.
