I'm a first time mum and breastfeeding,
I have a five month old baby boy I currently have a next to me he has been able to fully roll over since four months old . I'm unsure when I should be putting him in his cot

Hiya, I'm a first time mum too (14 months), I think it's when they can sit up unaided that you need to move them. My son did that at 7 months and he'd outgrown the next to me by then!

I would slowly start introducing it if you can, so for a afternoon nap or something but depends on space and where the cot is located.

Oh okay thank you for your help I will wait. A little bit then Smile

Youngest moved at 7 months as she was trying to pull herself up on the next to me to stand.
Eldest was 5 months but because he kept getting irritated at little space in the next to me and waking himself up

Dd was about 6.5 months when we moved her, she was getting far too big for the next to me and was getting uncomfortable rolling around in her sleep. We introduced the cot for naps at around 5 months

It's great that you're being attentive to your baby's development! Since your little one can roll over and is growing quickly, it might be a good time to consider transitioning him to a cot, especially if he's starting to outgrow the next-to-me crib. I made this move with my kid around this age. Just make sure the cot is safe, with a firm mattress and nothing inside that could be a hazard. Trust your instincts and take it at a pace that feels right for both of you. If you're ever unsure, your pediatrician can also offer guidance.

I started napping baby at 3 months in cot during the day.
Moved at night own room and cot at 4.5 months (personal choice!)
