Bedtime for 3 month old

Is it usual to introduce a bedtime for a 3 month old baby? My DS has just turned 3 months and he usually still comes up to bed with us around 9 - 10pm but he is normally napping all evening.

A lot of what I’m reading says to put him down at 7 or 8pm now? If we do that is that without waking him up for a feed? He currently sleeps through until 6am more often than not. He is also very small and I’m worried about dropping another feed (he has a bottle at 7pm and 10pm). Any advice on this? It would be great to get a couple of evening hours back!

I always put mine down at 6.30.

It was lovely to get some peace in the evenings.

We do.a dream feed. Put a bottle in their mouth while they are asleep.

If it’s working for you then no reason to change it. And if you want to change it then that’s ok too ! My little one is 3 months and is now going to bed between 8-830. 5 feeds during the day with the final one 7-730 depending on how the day has gone. Little bath, bottle and then bed. Feeding takes us an hour though for upright time (reflux). Gradually I expect my ones bedtime to come forward a bit but because I have an older one who goes to bed at 8 I’m not in a rush to bring it forward anymore.

little one might also let you know when they are ready for an earlier bedtime. My girl was getting very aggy of an evening before we brought bedtime forward !

we did dream feeds with my son. Wouldn’t work with my daughter though so just see what works best for you :-)

I did. By around 8 weeks, I'd introduced a bedtime routine with a bath around 6pm, then a story, feed and bed by 6:30.
Some evenings they were a bit unsettled but generally they'd sleep until about 10-11 pm before waking for a feed.
I know that the guidelines say they should sleep with you in the room until 6 months but we'd put them in their own room at bedtime while we stayed downstairs (with a baby monitor), then bring them into our room overnight when we went to bed.

If what you’re doing is working for you and baby, you don’t need to change it.
