need some advice as I’m panicking. I had a big rash on my bottom blistery itchy and burning while in hospital having my son I had them checked as initially I thought they were bits from gnat that might of got caught in my underwear. But when being in hospital being induced with my son they turned blistery and spread some more. Doctor in hospital wasn’t so concerned and said check with your gp managed to get an appointment 4 days after my son being born they said I had folliculitis gave me antibiotics and cream. But since Thursday it’s now Sunday my niece and my daughter who have been around me have both come out in chicken pox and we’re confused to wear they’ve caught them from but from my mum suggesting maybe I’ve got shingles and now me reading and looking at pictures online of shingles on your buttocks area it 100% looks like what I’ve got. I’m now worried about my baby catching chicken pox he’s 7 days old today most of my rash has scabbed over but one I’ve been clean constantly washing my hands. But what are the chances of him catching it and if so how bad can it be. Just to add he’s exclusively breast feed

Hi sorry you're going through this and congratulations on your DS.
Were you vaccinated against CP? If so, you should have passed on some antibodies.

Either way, if your DS comes out in any spots at all please go straight to A&E. it happened to someone I know, the baby was fine but did need several days in hospital on some sort of drip.

And keep your family members with CP away, CP is much more contagious than shingles I think.
